Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speaker. Feminist Frequency is a web site which hosts video and commentary on the representation of women in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning feminist journalist from Canada and a blogger. Feminist Frequency, a website for education that examines women's positions in the pop culture narratives, is her brainchild. Additionally, she serves as the executive director. Destroying stereotypes about women are the main goals of her work. However, Sarkeesian also discusses issues of specific harassment of women on the internet and for other groups which are marginalized. Sarkeesian holds a Masters in the field of political and social thought from York University. As a public speaker, she's well-known and has been a speaker at TEDxWomen XOXO and United Nations Broadband Working Group. When she was a student at the university, Sarkeesian became fascinated by the issue of gender identity and women's rights at an early stage. Someone who hoped to create a web series that examined the representation of gender in video games was targeted by an online campaign.
